Media project & final reflection

In this group work. In my point of view, the most successful thing in this media piece is to educate the younger generation. As we choose to educate the audiences on the aware issue of climate change. We took a lot of footage in our daily life not only it can relate to the entangled reading but also it relates to the damaged reading. In my point of view, a lot of the younger generation could not aware of climate change is because they do not know everything is connected (Ingold, T. 2011) and although some of them realize the climate change this particular issue they do not know how to stay with those troubles (Haraway, D., 2016). In our video, we tried to educate people to protect the environment, and also teach them how to stay with trouble by giving their ideas of how to reduce climate change and what can we do about it. However, the most problematic aspect of the work is the target audiences. for what I mean by the target audiences is because, in our final project, we focus on the younger generation. However, climate change is a disaster to the Earth and no one can escape from that. According to Tsing, A.L., (2015) although a resource is very important for people’s life people to need to know how to exchange the resource by no harming the environment. All of us are taking resources from nature. Thus, Target audiences should not just focus on the younger generation. I assume that it should be all of us because everything is connecting.

The most significant thing I have learned about how to practice attuned noticing draws attention to and senses of qualities of climate change is that The effect of climate change. When I was doing this project, I start to pay attention to the environment in my daily life and also did some research. I realized that people are making climate change in their daily life although they make it by no intentionally. Exemplifies, people drive cars a lot, using paste bag and so on. Those human activities are making climate change getting serious. If people are not starting to worry about climate change is a serious issue. The world will get worst and there is no place for people to survives. There is no water for people to drink, there is no oxygen for people to breathe. In addition, climate change is everywhere but some people could not notice that. Thus, in our final project, we educating people climate change is everywhere and it just happens in our daily life. Also educating people to notice climate change and inspire them to think. Furthermore, although the effect of climate change is not irredeemable on account of people can reduce climate change in several ways, for instance, people can make more green stuff like afforestation, do the garbage classification, use less paste bag, do not throw the rubbish in the ocean because that might kill that animal and drive less car. Those actions can reduce climate change and protect the Earth.

In our project, we used voice-over and text to educate people because we want to express that climate change is in our daily life and in everywhere. However, In my point of view, those two ways are not enough on account of there are disabled people in the world so maybe I can use audio to talk about climate change as the issue as well. the technology we used is about zoom in and zoom out, adjust the audio, background music, and so on. However, I think we can do it better by using professional equipment to take footage from daily life because professional equipment can make the video more sense of depth and I can change that setting.

Week 11 – rough cut

In week 11, we shared our creative tests and received a lot of feedback. I think those feedback can help me to improve my work a lot. In my point of view, my media piece is working most successfully in terms of I highlight the education this topic, show the outcome of the sand storm, and educated the audience on how to avoid that sand storm. However, there was a lot of weakness based on the feedback from classmate and teacher. Exemplifies, my editing skill can be better, such as I can make my media piece more sense of depth and plan those footages more structure. Which can give the audience a direct feeling and educate the audience in a better way. In addition, my audio arrangement got some problems according to the teacher and classmate. In some footage, background music is over my voiceover. Thus, the audience and teacher could not hear my voiceover. Furthermore, my creative test style is the opposite of my companion creative test. My creative test style is kind of a serious one and my companion one is pretty cute. However, I think this depends on what age are we focus on. As a result of our target audience is a teenager. I think it is a good idea to combine our style together, some parts can be cute, some parts can be serious.

In my point of view, as the feedback I received. I will take some of the feedback to complete my work. For example, need more academic, more professional and use more technology. my video is too serious and that vibe is too strong. I think I can use some companion video elements. In addition, I think I need to be careful on my sounds level and make sure audience can hear me.

week 10 creative test

This me and my group member joined consult with Hannah and we got inspired a lot. Hannah did help us a lot and I and my group member were very appreciated that. In the creative test part me and my group member have considered a lot. Once we finish that video and we can use it in our final project and that’s our idea. So, basically, we decided to make 8 pieces or 10 pieces of video and component those videos will be 8 mins or 10 mins. In addition, I was thinking about the sand storm issue. In my point of view, the entangled article is very helpful for this subject. Thus, I think I can draw to audiences attention sand storms can be very harmful to the environment and also to human life. And show the audience what about entangled in order to how can we inspire them to think more in terms of making more greening staff and try not to use woodwork.

I think my creative test indicates the outcome of if we keep cutting the trees down and also gives the audience the example of the woodwork. Furthermore, the creative test also highlights that the damage of the sand storm. However, there are so many improvements I can do, such as technical, structure, research, and equipment. I can use more technology in that creative test such as using two separate screens, and the audience can see that comparison directly. Also, I can plan that structure in a better way. exemplifies background music and the order of footage. In addition, In my point of view, I only connect entangled reading in the creative test video, it is possible to argue that if I put more research on the sand storm will be better. Lastly, I think If I can use the camera instead of the phone camera, that will be better as well.

Week 9 reflection

This week i and my group member Nikki did a presentation and we received a lot of useful feedback from Hannah , Brian and classmates. There were various feedback we received, such as, in the original plan as we set up for the final project. We wanted to educate the young generation so we set up so many talking parts. Brian was saying we talk too much and the audience might be bored. I think that point is very right cuz I haven’t considered like if I am the audience will watch this kind of video. Thus, I and Nikki decided to talk less and maybe put more footage to inspire the audience to think about climate change this issue. Secondly, the target audience might need to be more digital. Cuz, a young generation might be too wild for our project we need to think about whats range we gonna focus on. After I and Nikki met each other online, we think the range of the young generation is 18-25. So we will make the final project more meaningful and we will try to convince them that how to reduce climate change, what’s the outcome of climate change, where can we see that change, and so on. Thirdly, our platform should be changed. As the original plan is YouTube because we thought it might be easier for them to watch that video. However, after the discussion between me and Nikki. A new idea pops up in our mind, we think we can choose Instagram to be our video platform because we think the range of 18-25 are using Instagram and we can make a lot short video and put on Instagram such as story or IGTV. Therefore, Instagram is the best option we think. To sum up, we very grateful for everyone’s feedback and we will make it happen!

Week 8 research

This week we talked a bit about ecocineme and assignment in detail. In our assignment, we think it is a good idea to make a video. According to Ivakhiv, A (2013) visual media can intensify our feeling of the world. I think it is very correct because a lot of things we might not able to notice. such as climate change. According to that article, movies can help people to understand more about the world. Thus, I think it is a good idea to make a video. Also, climate change is a serious issue in our life. According to the Houghton, J.T., Jenkins, G.J., and Ephraums, J.J (1990) that report was created in 1988 by World Meteorological Organization and United Nations Environment Programme, climate change will affect human’s life a lot such as a greenhouse, global warming. people might think it is too far from their daily life. However, those changes are happening every single time. especially for the young generation because they are young, they do not have a lot of knowledge about climate change. Thus, we think it might be a good idea to target them to be our audience group.

As I watched a video from Kurzgesagt (2020), I got more ideas of how we gonna organize our media pieces. I really like the way they express, for example, they used cartoons to express which makes the video more fun, also, they gave a lot of evidence of how climate change, history records as well. I think in our video we can show that climate change is around us and what can lead to climate change and give more information about it.

Week 7 initial idea

This week we talked about assignments 3 and 4 in detail. Also, talked about a little bit of climate change and discussed what technology can be used in order to the intense feeling of climate change to the audiences. Firstly, I think voice-over, title, zoom in and zoom out, and so on can help to intense sense to the audiences. According to the Demos, T.J Scott, E.E, Banerjee, S.(Eds.), 2021, Climate change have a very big influence on the Earth, and people can feel it because there is a connection between human and climate. people can lead climate to change in terms of making more pollution, doing more damage to the landscape. Also, humane can change climate change, if so, they need to make more greening stuff, less drive, protect the environment, and so on. Otherwise, the human might be die out. Climate change this issue is getting very serious. We can sense it in a lot of ways, for example, the weather, the cloud, the quality of the oxygen, and so on.

In the previous article as I learned about was how to live with ”trouble” and noticing the unseeing things. I think those two ideas are very helpful as climate change is everywhere. So, when I received information about this topic. The first thing that pops up in my mind is education. I think climate change is relating everyone’s life which is connecting that sketch called entangled (Ingold, T. 2011). So, I think I might focus on showing climate change in different areas and tell the audience what is the outcome of climate change in order to educate the audience to protect the environment is protecting yourself.
