Week 8 research

This week we talked a bit about ecocineme and assignment in detail. In our assignment, we think it is a good idea to make a video. According to Ivakhiv, A (2013) visual media can intensify our feeling of the world. I think it is very correct because a lot of things we might not able to notice. such as climate change. According to that article, movies can help people to understand more about the world. Thus, I think it is a good idea to make a video. Also, climate change is a serious issue in our life. According to the Houghton, J.T., Jenkins, G.J., and Ephraums, J.J (1990) that report was created in 1988 by World Meteorological Organization and United Nations Environment Programme, climate change will affect human’s life a lot such as a greenhouse, global warming. people might think it is too far from their daily life. However, those changes are happening every single time. especially for the young generation because they are young, they do not have a lot of knowledge about climate change. Thus, we think it might be a good idea to target them to be our audience group.

As I watched a video from Kurzgesagt (2020), I got more ideas of how we gonna organize our media pieces. I really like the way they express, for example, they used cartoons to express which makes the video more fun, also, they gave a lot of evidence of how climate change, history records as well. I think in our video we can show that climate change is around us and what can lead to climate change and give more information about it.

Week 7 initial idea

This week we talked about assignments 3 and 4 in detail. Also, talked about a little bit of climate change and discussed what technology can be used in order to the intense feeling of climate change to the audiences. Firstly, I think voice-over, title, zoom in and zoom out, and so on can help to intense sense to the audiences. According to the Demos, T.J Scott, E.E, Banerjee, S.(Eds.), 2021, Climate change have a very big influence on the Earth, and people can feel it because there is a connection between human and climate. people can lead climate to change in terms of making more pollution, doing more damage to the landscape. Also, humane can change climate change, if so, they need to make more greening stuff, less drive, protect the environment, and so on. Otherwise, the human might be die out. Climate change this issue is getting very serious. We can sense it in a lot of ways, for example, the weather, the cloud, the quality of the oxygen, and so on.

In the previous article as I learned about was how to live with ”trouble” and noticing the unseeing things. I think those two ideas are very helpful as climate change is everywhere. So, when I received information about this topic. The first thing that pops up in my mind is education. I think climate change is relating everyone’s life which is connecting that sketch called entangled (Ingold, T. 2011). So, I think I might focus on showing climate change in different areas and tell the audience what is the outcome of climate change in order to educate the audience to protect the environment is protecting yourself.

Sketch 6

This week I learnt a lot about the dynamic landscape. After I went through weekly reading I felt like it was a conclusion of all of the previous weekly reading. I acknowledge that people need to focus on detail, if so, people will find out a lot of interesting stuff. According to the Gibson, R.(2015) changescape is a system and this system can help people to intensify their experience and acknowledge the understanding of nature, society and technology. In addition, the system has to including those functions, the first one is able to save environment information for the future purpose, the second one is a complex system (Gibson, R, 2015). which means a human can intervene in the system, such as, people can build their own creative ideas in the artwork. As my favourite point from the reading said every system would no sleep, no pause, no save, while everything is uploading, germinate and spring (Gibson, R, 2015).

I think it was a very intelligent idea because I think everything is connecting as well and the system is complex and persistent. For example, the tree, the tree is part of nature, it grows up by human’s activities, weather and so on. people give chemical fertilizer to the tree. Nature gives sunshine and rainy to the tree. That’s why I choose a tree to be my dynamic landscape. The tree is changing all the times just not obvious but if people pay more attention to it, we will find out. Furthermore, the tree can transform other stuff. Exemplifies, people can use the tree to make chopsticks, chairs and a lot of woody things.

To reflect on my video, I think I can spend more time recording the change of the tree. Also, I can insert subtitles in my video.
