Part 1:
This special semester is coming to the end, it will be a very special learning experience, although there are many inconveniences in the learning process, we overcome difficulties and the subject will be completed soon.
In the past few months of study, we did a lot of subjects, like editing exercise, sound recording, Scripting, color grading, filming in this special situation. Firstly, through the editing exercise, I learnt a lot of new shortcut keys, some hot keys are very useful, for example, ‘v’ ‘c’ can easily shift cut to choose. ‘ctrl + s’ can easily save the schedule, we can press ‘alt’ and drag the clips, the clips can be easily copied and pasted. ‘-’ and ‘+’ can easily zoom in and out the timeline. ‘ctrl + k’ can easily cut the footages, and use ‘d’ to choose the clips and delete it. These hot keys car very useful, they can make the edit much quickly and save the time. Sound is also very important for a video, thus, we make a video with still picture. Picture is not enough to make the story clear enough, sound can make the whole film up to another level. Use sounds like footsteps climbing stairs, ordinary footsteps, opening doors, put boxes on the ground, and the most important, dialogue. Mix these sounds together and much them with the picture, the story can be told clearly, the audiences can understand the story easier by looking and hearing. Color grading is also important, different style of color can give the audiences different feeling, and make the film more movie sense.
Part 2:
From week 8, we started to make a film in group. The script I choose was “No Words”, it is not a complex story. In the first week, we pick the script and make commons, like how to shot, what need to be maintained. Afterwards, we had some conversations with our tutors and students to discuss how to shoot. Then we started the experimental shooting. Because we can’t have class face-to-face, or collaborate face-to-face, we tried to use zoom to recording the footages. Shooting with zoom is a big challenge for us. When we first shot, we encountered many difficulties because many conditions could not be controlled, the camera could not be moved, and the scene layout was also very limited , Network latency is also a big problem, The actor places the computer camera through communication with the director, and performs certain scene design, and then communicates with the actor how to perform, and uses the zoom recording function to shoot. This is the process of shooting this video. First of all, because the network delay will cause the picture to freeze, we decided to let the actor start the screen recording and send the recorded video to the director at the end. Although this method is very complicated, it can ensure the best picture quality and smoothness. In addition, because I couldn’t get Yu Liu to find a suitable scene, I slightly modified the script so that the script could be shot. At the beginning, I deleted the first mailbox scene. Although there is a lack of a scene, it can make the shooting proceed normally.
In the second shooting, we chose to improve on the original basis. With the first experience, the second time we went very smoothly, and the footages was shot very quickly. Although the shooting was much smoother than the previous shooting, I found that when talking with the actors, I couldn’t accurately describe the picture I wanted, so some waste shots appeared. After the second shooting, I began to think about how to describe the picture so that the actors could understand what I wanted. I tried more annotations, but I didn’t think they helped much. I found that because I didn’t have a sense of picture from beginning to end, so I drew some shots, and I found that they played a role Some functions, they let me have a picture in my mind, so it is easier to describe the picture. 
When editing, I want to make the action coherent. I shoot two frames of an action and edit together to make the story smooth. In the first in class communication seminar, I found that I was still not sure about the editing point. The wrong editing point made the video’s coherence problematic, and the movement was not coherently connected. And the lack of close-up shots of things explained. I added some close-up pictures in the following shooting, and made these movements as coherent as possible in the editing. The video looks much better than before.
Summarizing the shooting and editing during this time, I have gained a lot during this time. I have the knowledge, skills, and joy of working with my classmates in shooting. This is an unforgettable experience. For the gain of knowledge, first of all, it is about writing scripts. It is not easy to make a story attract the audience. I think that to make a story appeal to the audience, we must find inspiration from life and let the audience I think this story may happen to me, or even to myself. Regarding the improvement of technology, the first is the shooting. In scene setting, actor scheduling, and camera settings, these need to be processed quickly and accurately, because when the shooting is multi-person cooperation, the director ’s negligence will cause the entire shooting The problem may be that the time is tight, or even that day can no longer be filmed. So when shooting, you need to think a lot, and you have to take into account the overall situation. The other is about editing skills. The early shooting plays a big role in editing, and the relationship between the pictures determines the consistency of the editing. For editing, smooth and continuous editing plays an important role in the entire video and storytelling. Working with classmates is a great thing. In this shoot, teamwork plays an important role. A director, two actors, and everyone has their own responsibilities. Everyone needs to work together in order to shoot the video.
