Ready Camera One – Assignment 4 – Post #3

Week 10

Reading this week, I’ve learned a lot about how multi-cam sitcoms shouldn’t go away and why multi-cam sitcoms work, as well as the differences between single-cam and multi-cam comedy. In multi-camera shooting, there will be many cameras shooting in a scene, which can capture every important angle in the scene. The advantage is that multiple actors and angles in multiple scenes can be played at the same time and the camera can be switched at any time, bringing different experiences and fun to the audience. The single-camera is mostly used in movies and TV series. Although the audience cannot interact with the actors on the spot, the experience it brings to the audience is more immersive, and the overall performance is more full and advanced. Don’t worry if you make a mistake, you can achieve the best effect by shooting the same clip repeatedly. At the same time, it can be shot in sections without following a fixed sequence. Compared with multi-camera shooting, it is more free and has more time.

According to Lloyd (2018), the live audience serves as an essential component, and the laughter and reaction from the audience are part of the show. The effect of enhancing the on-site response can also affect the effect of comedy and enhance the performance of actors. I think this effect is necessary to bring more humor and a sense of belonging to those who are in front of the screen. In our filming, we will also adopt the same method to make our program more three-dimensional and real by increasing the interaction of the live audience.
