As Project Brief 4 asked we have to separate to 3 random people to be a group. Armin, Nakita and I became one group. We need to do a seven to eight minutes audio. The project required us to think about something with the word “attention”. Through the social media technologies era, we thought the focus on the differences between new media platform advertisers and traditional media platform advertiser. Our question is why have advertisers given more of their attentions to new media platforms instead of traditional media platforms? Base on the question, we did separate our work to small topics, therefore the division of labour is clear-cut, each one being charged with specific responsibilities. As our brainstorm of our topic, we are going to talk about the influences famous Instagram accounts with a lot of followers and likes, how do Social Media Platform is designed (videos, grids, still images, consistent posts and Boomerang etc.) compared to traditional magazines and newspaper and billboards etc, Social Media has a Huge audience as many people have easy access to it (just go on your phone), compared to the inconvenient struggle of going to a news agency to buy the paper, pop up Ads on Youtube etc. that are generally related to what you’re interested in (from previously watched videos) – same as Gmail also Clickbait (found through links on websites or catchy media titles), allows anyone to post advertisements and to create a personable sense to it and finally is a platform focusing on Community allowing everyone to share content and advertise through this, It’s a more direct way to access Advertisements. And then, we said we meet on the Monday before our week 11 workshop, so we can have a draft cut on Tuesday to give our guest listen and give us feedback.
On Monday, when we did the record part, it took less time than what I thought to be. Before we record our voice, we thought that continue talking will be so board. We planned to make it as a broadcasting station. Like we use to hear on the car. We tried to cue the next person who is going to speak. For example, Armin speaker to the first time, and he is going to say “now let’s hear something from Nagini”. Which will not make our listener be more board. I think this is our most successful aspect of PB4. The idea of “broadcasting station” will not only bring us to the old media world but also combine with our topic, the difference between old media and new media platform. Also, I really like the start part and ending part, it reminds about my childhood hahaha. However, I feel the most problematic aspect will be our background. Since on Tuesday class, I hear Rico group’s audio, I feel there is background sound is very suitable for their voice. However, our group audio will be little in monotone. But the experience of PB4 is very interesting.
The first media class talks about the word “attention”. I think our group give a highly respond to our class and reading said. Media can be a market, well attention is the strategies of the media world. Especially in new media technologies era. Our group comparing and contrasting the advertising between new media platform and traditional media platform. In some way, it also represents in our generation, how does media give us more attention than before.
Through the process of PB4 collaboration, I learn the cooperative spirit of the group. Although during final, we have a lot of stuff going on, we still meet our group mates to talk about our group project each week. This project helps me to know the application Audition better, making me have the ability to use the application. For me, Audition is kind of hard to play and use. The teamwork is the most important part of our project, we need to communicate a lot through this project.
