Task One: Prompt

“We need to be selective in order to survive”.

This sentence is from our week one reading. It really interested me. In technology era, many things could get our attentions, but we also need to select those attentions highly. Different people notice different things even in one situation, it is really personal. I am curious what influence our attentions to be highly selective. Some people are very sensitive to voices, some really affect by colours, lights. I think noticing can be both personal and circumstantial. For example, when I was a child, I focused on the cars rather than the signal of the crosswalk. However now, I will look at the signal or listen to the voice of signal when I walk through the crosswalk. This reflects that in my childhood, I do personally focus on what I want to focus on. Through the life experience and learning experiences, I know looking the signal is more important or in the other word, convenience than cars.

Is noticing a negative thing? en….I don’t really know. Maybe there are too many things can attract my attentions out there. So sometimes it can transpire my thoughts. For example, when I in my apartment, I can always hear the signal sounds when a train comes. Which sometimes it annoys me. However, in sometimes noticing can allow me to find the beauty, the beauties of nature, the beauties of human, the beauties of the world. As the light of the setting sun, the sun continuously through the gap between the leaves….so on and so far.

“A lot of filmmaking is about re-creating an idea that existed beforehand, even in documentary”

From Silke Panse, Land as Protagonist – An Interview with James Benning, 2013. This sentence leads me to think about how do we re-creating an idea, I guess it should from our observation of the life. How can we observe things? By noticing things.  We need to gather five pieces of the things I notice due next week. I am really interested what do those pieces in common.
