Last week, our group chose to create four pieces about the topic: “A girl in different moods”. There are Horror, Warm/Relaxing, Romantic and Anxiety four moods that we decided to do. We have shared the videos that we made in the last week on google drive. After watching the videos together, we made comments on each other’s work to make them better. I am doing the horror scene so I went to Swanston street from day to night to shoot for my video. I tried different locations at different time periods and picked those that I like the best and then mixed them together in premiere pro.
- The first relevant idea is about the way of my shooting. The reason that I chose vertical shooting was that I did not want the audience to clearly see the surroundings and in this case could enhance their feeling of horror. I also cut the tower in Melbourne central in my video which I wanted to achieve the feeling of lost and illusional. The pace was a bit fast between the cuts as I would like to create the atmosphere of unknown, unsafe and unpredictable.
- The second valid consideration is about editing. I added a black filter so that the audience can only see the black and white colours which I believed suitable to the mood of horror. To create the illusional feeling of the tower throughout the video, I used blur to achieve that. There was no fade in or fade out in the whole video piece. I chose to use black to be the intervals between the different scenes. And also, there were lots of black intervalic cuts in the video as I always do not want the audience to see clearly.
These are the screenshots of me me putting up aims for the next two weeks for our group and chatting online with my group mates about the videos that we made.
