I watched some interesting video this week about how to create sound, cause I noticed that natural sound is not enough as the resource to create a “mood”. This video describes how artists at the sound studios in Hollywood make the sound for images on the screen. I was surprised when I realized that the sound of the skiers stepping on the snow was originally the sound of the voice actors stepping on the sand, and the sound of the waterfall was just the sound they made by pouring water in buckets. This introduction to video undoubtedly inspired me with the possibility of sound creation. I conceived that the emotion I wanted to make was anxiety. I had done a project on the school anxiety of overseas students before, so I understood this kind of emotion. Although I haven’t figured out what video’s content is yet, the audio production has some ideas because of the inspiration of this Youtube video. For example, tinnitus symptoms occur when a person has a lot of anxiety and is alone in a quiet place, in my own experience, this tinnitus sounds very much like the sound of a shell being listened to by the human ear, so I think the sound can be simulated like this. Meanwhile, there are many elements of anxiety, like Heart beats, gasps, or the sound of sweat, these sounds are relatively easy to make. In the next few days, our group will have some meetings to determine the four specific emotions. Because of the division of labor, each person is responsible for a kind of emotion, and I will also start to clarify specific ideas and what video needs to be shot.
