What is humanity becomes a hive mind? I’m mean, from a utilitarian point of view, it does not sound so bad, without the conflicting interests, we would hence become one super organism much like the individual cells that bound together in order to ensure our own survival.  As discussed in Jelor Gallego’s news article, Becoming Borg: What Is a Hive Mind in Science and Could Humanity Get There? The author explores the idea of computer to brain interfaces and brain to computer interfaces via impacting electrodes to connect the brain to a processor, and transmit information over the internet. Obviously, immediate implications would be to “give up” your own humanity and thought privacy to the users of the internet. Although I do see potential to effortless transfer thoughts/messages in a more endearing way than ever before. Unfortunately, much like many other technologies that people thought would “benefit humanity” had become rather mundane or abused. When the internet came out, the professors at MIT thought it would globalise information and knowledge, but it also have us internet pornography and Instagram influences. See where I am going with this?

On a more personal note, this week’s class, came in from one ear and exited the other. I lost track of the days and every morning feels like a endless blur, as if I did not sleep at all. One night, I stared out my room window, the clouds were oddly pink and purple despite being 2am. By no means am I having any mental illnesses, but it feels so quiet, the miserable type of quiet. Back in 2019, when the news about the virus first came out, honestly thought it was just media hype. “It would never happen to me,” I thought, until it came. Now I’m just wondering around my house all day, I can’t believe how much things have changed in so little time. In class we talked about our preparation and plans for assignment 2, although the topic was rather “open ended” we are limited to each of our own resources as the government further tightens the quarantine gap. Some people had some excellent ideas, such as impersonating a hospital robot treating the ill who have COVID-19.
