Assignment 2-SCRIPT AND REFLECTION
This is my first time writing a detailed script by myself. During the conceptualisation process, I felt confused and stressed occasionally, it was a little challenging. I take the attitude that a great script does not need a complicated plot, and I named it “One Minute,” because the phenomenon of stayed abed is quite common in the lives of young people, even for everyone. It is a real problem, and close to life. At the same time, I took advantage of the repetitive nature of the dialogue to reinforce the title. Also at the end, when the character says there are no more minutes on the way out the door, that I am echoing the importance of the theme. It conveys a clearer theme, warns people of the importance of waking up on time, and emphasizes the concept of time, which is a basic concept in people’s lives. Thus, that is the most successful part.
Moreover, I have read other students’ scripts, I found interesting and engaged to absorb different ideas from other’s. Some of them have suspense, comedy, or crime features. In contrast, my film genre did not stand out as much in my script. However, I think that if some changes could be made, for example, take the consideration of the use of shots, character’s costume, and sound effects, a comedic atmosphere could be created as well.
In terms of choosing the space, I mainly chose the bedroom, kitchen, and front door. To be honest, all of which are convenient spaces to shoot in and the most familiar spaces for people to use their richer imagination, to use props around freely, shoot more freely as well. In addition, building a comfortable shooting environment. Besides, even though the dialogue between the characters in the script I wrote was relatively simple, people could better express the storyline vividly through body language and actions. Plus, I am satisfied with the format and layout of the script I wrote, which clearly and explicitly conveyed each message, which easier for people to execute. In conclusion, I believe these are the successes of my script.
