Who is the practitioner (what is their name?) and when were they practicing?

Nam June Paik was a Korean American artist who is referred to as the ‘father of video art’ as he transformed the medium of video into artistic pieces of art. Nam June Paik began practicing video art in the mid 60s until roughly 2004.

This artwork was produced in 1995 and is titled Electronic Superhighway: Continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii. 

How was the photo or video authored?

This artwork is constructed of 336 televisions, 51 channels, 50 DVD players, 3,750 feet of cable, and 575 feet of multicolored neon tubing. The audio visual component comprises of multiple flashing video images and audio clips from The Wizard of Oz, Oklahoma. 

How was the photo or video published?

As it is an art installation it was displayed in the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington D.C., United States of America. Because it was an installation and not just a digital video file, it meant that there was only one physical version of the piece and it could not be replicated or modified a second time.

How was the photo or video distributed?

As it was a physical art piece it was not physical distributed, however due to technological advances digital photographs and video recordings of the artwork have been distributed on the World Wide Web allowing people to witness and view the artwork with out having to got to the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington D.C.
