Entangling Media – Reflection Week 4

  •  New journalism or literary journalism is a hybrid between the journalism techniques such as full record of dialogue and descriptive character details, and creative writing techniques such as subjective perspective, immersion, extensive imagery. This combination results in a much more immersive and sensually comprehensive experiences for audience while reading a non-fictional text.
  • Digital journals still embrace most of the techniques from literary journalism, only to multimodalized it with other medium such as photography, interaction, animation, etc. It increases the engagement of audience and therefore delivers the messages more efficiently.
  • Pieces like ‘My Grandmother’s Lingo’ is a perfect example of interactive storytelling in a digital context as it not only uses metaphorical animation but also combines a learning aspect where audience has to say the word in that language correctly to move on. Perfectly achieves the purpose of protecting the indigenous language!
  •  For this week’s activity I made a plan for ‘On Air’ which already says that I did not have enough time or resources or knowledges to make it happen. However, if the idea were to be executed, I think it would be very much effective because it really embraces all the aspects of the place I choose, even my colleagues agreed!
