The example ‘Deep Sea’ we saw in class is one interesting piece of multimodal whereas it uses still images and text to deliver the narrative with the depth of the sea. One thing noticeable is the amount of empty spaces compare to images and text, which suggests how much human do not know about the ocean.
I finished one piece (still images + text) and planned to make the other one with video and text (with the video of the cooking on one side and the conversation while eating on the other side, to suggest that this cooking process is a preparation and/or anticipation to the conversations during the meal). The similarity between these two is the focus on daily, homely conversations between two close friends. Initially, I want both of these pieces to be a very simple, easy read but suggestive and shows the comfort and strength of our relationship.
One idea that I found interesting in the reading is in the article ‘One Block’, where readers are allowed to be the reporters, dive into the story of each person and therefore create the map of the relationships within the blog. There are endless ways of telling these stories based on whoever is reading, which highlights the personal aspect the audience. I would like to apply this to my own works by making them suggestive instead of prescribed, therefore gives the audience interactions with them both physically or mentally.
