Dear Media 3 and Media 5 incoming students,
We’re pleased to provide the Media Studio offerings for semester 1, 2026. Click the image below to download the booklet and read descriptions of the 14 wonderful Studios we have on offer this semester:

Read on for more information about Studios and preferences!
Submitting your preferences in myTimetable
To submit your Studio preferences in myTimetable, follow these steps:
- Read the studio descriptions in their entirety provided in the booklet above.
- Check the studio times listed below and in myTimetable against your other commitments and classes. You need to be able to attend both classes, i.e. PRA01 (2 hrs) and PRA02 (3 hrs) for your studio each week (5 hours total).
- Based on the studio description booklet and your availability, preference at least 3 studios from when the myTimetable preferencing period opens at 10am on Friday 23 January.
Important notes on Studio preferences
- Studio allocations are NOT affected by when you submit your preferences, so take your time to read the Studio descriptions before you decide. Just make sure to have your preferences submitted before preferencing closes at 5pm on Friday 6 February.
- Because there are nearly 400 students preferencing Studios, it is impossible to guarantee that everyone will be allocated into one of their top preferences. Please be flexible, open, and prepared to bring yourself to any of the Studios available, as they all offer exciting opportunities for you to develop your media learning, conceptually and technically. Adaptability is a highly prized and transferrable skill in the world of media work.
- If necessary you can adjust your allocated Studio on myTimetable from 10am Monday 1 March to 5pm Friday 6 March (end of Week 1). Studio adjustments close sooner than other courses to minimise disruption to everyone’s Studio experience.
For more information please see RMIT’s Guide to timetabling.

Hello… me!
Finally, just a quick note to let you know of a change to the Studio Coordination team for 2026. The wonderful Hannah Brasier is moving on to concentrate on developing some exciting new offerings at RMIT, so she is sadly stepping away from her role as Media Studios Coordinator.
In Hannah’s place, I’ll be joining Alan as the second Media Studios Coordinator from this semester. My name is Bradley J. Dixon, and you may know me from the comedy Studio I’ve led for the past two years, Beyond a Joke, Beyond a Genre. I’m a researcher in media and cinema studies with a particular interest in comedy practice, persona, and performance, and aside from my Studio I’ve taught a number of cinema studies and popular culture courses at RMIT since 2020.
Hannah’s not completely disappearing and will still be around the Media program (including leading the incredible Docathon Studio this semester!), so if you see her around campus don’t forget to thank her for her relentless hard work as Coordinator over the past two years.
If you have any questions about Media Studios (including specific questions about the offerings for semester 1), please email media.studios@rmit.edu.au and we will endeavour to get back to you within 2-3 working days.
Happy reading,
Alan & Bradley
