How would you feel if your loved ones are treated differently for who and what they are? Something they can’t control?

When we had our group pitch in the class, Sashi (the writer) talked about what influenced her to write the script and that is her experience growing up in Indonesia and how the people close to her are being subjected into racist comments about their looks and background being biracial. How hard it is to be ‘alienated’ within society that you grow up in. As someone who witnessed this situation, Sashi feels torn because she wants to protect the people around her suffering from verbal abuse. From this experience, she wrote the story about a brother who wants to become a cop in order to protect his sister from aliens and a sister who is an alien and her brother is unaware of her true identity.

In my opinion, we did a good job of exploring the issue of isolation within society and those who suffer are usually the people close to you. We showed this effectively through the relationship between the characters and the obstacle that they are suffering. I guess the only thing that hinders us is our lack of funds and the availability of each member of the group. Exploring this issue, we want our audience to relate to the characters and for them to feel that they are not alone. I know that at some point, the viewers experience some kind of isolation and racism/prejudice in their life that’s why we used aliens in our speculative media work to this issue that we are exploring.

After filming the last scene, I realized that I could have been more prepared in bringing other props, have a more detailed costume, location props and designs. The good thing is that we never had a hard time looking for equipment because there’s an AV loans that we can borrow all of our equipment
