On the 8th March, my group mates and I decided to conduct our very first practical test regarding about Live Streaming for educational purposes focusing on the topic “Study Tips and Hacks for Students”. We chose this for making online screen production because it is one of the new media platforms that we want to explore and we want to test out ourselves why live streaming is a big thing to most people, why is it used often in certain events.

These are the steps that we did before starting our practical test, we did some researched on the topic beforehand to prepare ourselves to what we need to say. Then we decided to use Youtube for our Live Stream because it’s more convenient but we didn’t know that for those who’s first time using the Live Stream on Youtube, we need to wait for 24 hours for our accounts to be activated. In the end, we decided to use Instagram to test out our project as it has the capability to start a live video.

In terms of using social media for live streaming, it’s very interactive especially for the watchers because most of them are just scrolling through their Instagram account and just ended up checking out the live video section. Also, they can comment their question and the host can answer them immediately. For the person who’s doing the streaming, it’s very stressful because the pressure to do good is very high and it takes a lot of courage to talk on screen without making any errors.

At the end of our Live Stream, we learned and realised that this project only works best to well known people. My group mates and I had no experienced doing this project so naturally we’re very nervous and made a lot of mistakes which can be avoided only if we did a more in-depth research on what works best for doing Live Stream and to never assume that this will be an easy platform to use. Also, there are other websites and social media that can be used for Live Stream with the same capabilities such as Livestream and Facebook.

What I conclude in this practical test was that, anyone can do live stream even if they don’t have any significant topics and just want to get popular by doing nonsense stuff online but rather, they do it simply because they can and are able to because of the new media platforms available within their reach.
