Produced by RMIT students Stefanie Fairlie, Sara Manojlović and Carly Daniels, The Female Spectator is a short experimental audio-visual essay that challenges the preconceived gender constructs of iconic Cinema history through exploration and appropriation of Film Noir/Neo-Noir classics.

With a multi-layered soundtrack, complementary use of original and appropriated footage and confounding visual effects, The Female Spectator is a bittersweet ode to Hollywood’s Golden Era and the woman cast in it’s shadow.
