That’s it, we did it! We made it! We created “The Charlie Show,” after what felt like months of planning and anticipation we finally concluded “The Charlie Show” and we were able to create something that we were all happy with. Yet like any rollercoaster or production, there were many ups and downs. No production is never a smooth ride, and this production is no exception. But at the end of the tunnel, there is always light to look for and that is what it felt like once the show was finished, it felt joy and relief as everything we have been working together for has come together to produce something magical.

For me, I see the target audience same as those that would enjoy shows like “30 Rock” and “Get Krackin” as “The Charlie Show” show a similar tone as these two shows, elaborating and humourizing the live television production. There is high hope that the audience has high engagement with the show. We hope that the audience can connect with the show through satire, that being able to make fun of late-night interview shows and Live television as we use multiple qualities that are presented in those shows. We want to connect with the audience by presenting humour in a way that is relatable to the audience and in a format, they are well known but from a different perspective.
We want to come across to the audience that the show is a professional live television show and not just some Student project. We wanted to present to the audience that the key concern was being able to produce a live television show that could be across as a Television show that you can watch on your regular television. We wanted to come across to the audience that the show has a sense of professionalism, this was met through planning to have everything we needed to ensure everything was on Cue.

If we ever got the chance to ever develop further “The Charlie Show” outside of our course or continue the creation of the show, there are a few things that I want to improve on as a group to create the best work we have possible. Although the show now is great, there are a few things I would love to include to make it even better than before. One aspect that I want to work especially on is a little bit of understanding camera knowledge. To be fair since lockdown no one has the chance to utilise University equipment for extended periods. If we had more time to play around with the camera, we would have a little more control over different shots we could do, such as pans and tracking shots, two camera shots that were heavily lacking in our production. But also, we would be able to solve the tilt lock situation, where not many people understood, including me, how to properly lock the tilt function for the camera.

For me, Communication and Collaboration within this studio had their ups and downs, but that is part of any production no one will always have clear communication. One area that seem to be great was that everyone was on the same page when it came to the Idea and environment of the show, it felt that everyone knew exactly what the show was meant to look like, which led to a clear vision for everyone to follow, a great example was the stage colour scheme and the graphic colour scheme matched as everyone knew what they wanted it to look like. This was due to the writers, Producers and directors making it clear to all the team what exactly they were looking for when creating the show. This is something important for media making as sharing the same envision allows for high work morale and ensures that we can create that we enjoyed and are happy with which will show to the audience.
Something that we needed to work on is organisation and ensuring we had everything we needed. More relevant within episode 1, we were rushing to do last-minute edits to the EVS videos, adding music where we can. Fixing audio and making sure all the Graphics and EVS files were in the right forms. Within the next production, it would be great to do a last-minute check of each file to ensure that the files are exported correctly. This one is also partly on me as well as overseeing EVS and graphics I should have done a last-minute check of all the footage before it was out. Cause of these issues both me and Emman were sitting in the control room fixing the issues to the second that we were needed for camera operators. The organisation is also important to ensure that we have all the props we needed, I remember for episode 2 we stress a little bit as we didn’t have googly eyes. With proper communication and organisation, it saves us from rushing to prepare things at the end and ensures that we have everything we need. It would not be sustainable for the future to always rush right before production. For future endeavours it would be best as a collective to create a timeline and time to check in with certain teams, which I wrote down I was going to do but never did, to ensure that we had everything we needed and that everything was done on time.

That’s it 3 years of studios are over, it sad to see it go that fast but I have learnt so much in my time. Ready Camera One not only has prepared me for live television but also helped me in many areas in other media forms. I want also like to thank Ruth for being so much help during this semester. Not only is this a wrap for this studio but a wrap for my journey as well.
Well,
That’s A Wrap!
