Passion and Career

# Cal Newport, 2012, ‘The Clarity of the Craftsman’ in So Good They Can’t Ignore You: Why Skills Trump Passion in the Quest for Work, NY Business Plus, ch.4.

In this week reading the main focus is driven by the ideals of passion, and how it drives you in your working life and career. Although this weeks reading came across more like a story than anything else it provided food for thought.

What drives us, what makes us who we are, what can we do to strive to be better. Where does our passion come from?

I feel as if after reading this, I’ve though out about where I want to go and what I need to do to get there. Like what was said in the reading it really comes down to mindset. If your not motivated you wont archive any goals you set yourself. If you’re no longer interested your not going to enjoy the work and will continue to decline your work ethic. Its really important to know who you are and where you want to go. Where you want to be in 2 years time or even just 6 months.

Goal setting is important as well as remaining passionate about what you are doing.
