In class this Tuesday we screened our final films so everyone could see the final (or almost final) products. I thought all of the films were fantastic – none of them bored me and it was clear to see that everyone had put lots of effort into the creation of their documentaries.
It was interesting to see the different ways in which each group had incorporated the studios themes into their pieces. Each film had its own strengths and weaknesses, but I think overall, they completely capture what the studio is about – telling authentic stories about memory, identity and change – and attaching those stories to the places we inhabit.
I’m pretty happy with our final piece – it’s by far the most effort I’ve put into a university assignment and Byron, Jess and I have put in countless hours shooting, panning and editing – I think this really shows in the final piece. There is a couple of changes we need to make with sound levels after problems we encountered with premiere pro – hopefully we find a resolution by Friday. I’m really happy with the pieces I’ve created in this studio and can’t wait to look back on them in the future and reflect on how I have used the techniques and methods learnt in ‘Memory, Identity and Neighbourhoods’ in future works.
