Reading One:
Kirkland, E. & Yilmaz, A. 2013, “Introduction: Memory and modernity”, Science Fiction Film and Television, vol. 6, no. 3, pp. 319-325,447-448.
I chose this article because it is pertinent to the ideas of Memory and Identity in relation to popular culture and film and television. It discusses the increasingly present theme of memory in popular culture and media products. I feel its content would help me develop the aspects of memory and identity in the storylines of my films.
Reading Two:
Marles, J.E., 2015. Simulating memory: a technique of memory and narrative in interactive digital media. Continuum, 29(4), pp.1–15.
This article discusses the idea of ‘memoradic narrative’ a style used to tell a story of memory using a combination of narrative techniques. The article discusses one particular interactive media piece but I feel its ideas are helpful for creating all types of media that involve the discussion of memories and identities and gives helpful insights into how I could better represent these if I was to further this project.
