Project three ideas

1.  Parody. In our project two sketches we attempted to add narrative to the traditionally non-narrative genre of the video review (our case study) through the use of parody. For project three, we ask the question: can parody be applied to different genres to re-contextualise them?

2. Genre mixing. For project two we mixed the genres of parody and video review, ultimately for comedic effect. We want to see the effect of mixing certain genres, even when the aim isn’t comedy. How different would this process be to parody?

3. Review through narrativeOur case study for project two followed a non-narrative structure, which we attempted to alter though the use of parody and character. We aim to see how narrative/non-narrative can be added through other means. What if a review was present in a narrative structure? Or what if a cause and effect style narrative found its way into a review?

Our choice: We have chosen to explore parody, although we think that by doing so, we will be able to touch on elements of ‘genre mixing’ as well. We have chosen this because we think its the natural step up from project two, and opens up various options for exploration.
