Week 7 Spirited away

This week, we looked the one of the most famous Japanese animation, ‘Spirited away’. I really enjoyed it.

First, during the amazing experience, Chihiro become grown-up and brave. ‘Spirited away’, telling children are happening around the reality of the story. In a strange street, because of the greedy parents dedicated to the food of the gods, were turned into a pig. Chihiro takes care of herself. I think, there is a deep meaning: adults because of their own shortcomings, doomed to be eliminated by society, the children can rely on themselves. ‘Miyazaki also included a theme advocating the prevention of greed: those swallowed by No Face were attempting to receive the gold he made.'(Fandom powered by wikia) This is a weakness of human. It is well displayed in this animation.

Second, in some Asia countries, mom and dad have ever said, do not talk to strangers, but if mom and dad have become pigs, I think Chihiro only trust strangers. Haku handed a pill, and she remembered that mother had said that others would only give you psychedelic drugs, so that you would listen to him. Beginning, Chihiro does not want to, when she reaches out to push, and her hand from the Haku body through, she think that she has some problems and really need someone else to help. In the opening moment, she learned to trust, she believes that Haku is her friend. With the Haku running, crossing the bridge, holding her breath, she knows that her friend is in her hand. Although she was surprised and threw up a small breath, her friend still held on to her. Quickly through the monsters, into the hut, forgetting to comfort herself, “you’ve done a good job.””. Know from now on, a friend is not lose her temper, that is, forgive and encourage.

Third, I think Chihiro becomes more brave when she meet Yubaba and want to get a job. Chihiro boldly said, “please let me work here”, and then found that his mouth was stuck by Yubaba with magic. Yubaba cursed: “you are wayward, and cry, and stupid, so useless, what can you do?” “And Chihiro knew she had to live and survive to have the chance to save her parents. So, just to suppress all the fear, a drop of tears can not fall, but repeatedly begged: “I want to work here”, this is in the hearts of faith, in the dark can not see the hope of running. In reality society, the young people who have ability, ideas and dreams are the ones who lack this kind of persistence. If they don’t work well, they want to change jobs, and there are no opportunities to jump anywhere. Those middle-level leaders can’t tolerate new people’s ability to exceed themselves, and young people are afraid to persist in order to dream. However, Chiriho, the little girl, kept on and got the chance to work.

Thanks for writing this interesting blog!
I have watched this film since I was a young boy. During that time, I felt a bit scared and lonely. However, after this time’s watching, I have learned a lot of things that I did not notice before. To give an example that, I learnt courage from Chihiro. I can imagine how much loneliness she have tolerated.
I also very like the idea “dream” you have talked about. I think the motivation for the civilization development is dream. Only people continuously dream and imagine the good things, the society could be better. In this film, what do you think of No face? Is he a good guy or a bad guy?
