Assignment 4: WEEKLY POST 1

Weekly Post 1

For this weekly post I will be covering 2 weeks of material because week 6 was preparation while week 7 was our first film shoot day.

Week 6:

For week 6, I read through the script and listed every prop we needed and made a list of it. I was also in charge of set design and costume design so I broke down each scene and tried to figure out what outfits were needed for each scene. The most important scenes for Mia (played by Talia), who was the main character, were the music video shoot and the party scene. Taylor gave me a guide of what type of outfits (music video fit that is a bit more extravagant and a more casual fit for the party scene)he had envisioned for each scene and I tried my best to accomplish that. We only needed 2 main outfits. I then made a mood board. I went on Pinterest and search through Instagram for inspo pictures for Talia to pick from and go from there, just to see what vibes she liked. The mood board was more of a rough idea, but I wanted Talia’s input in her comfortability in the outfits she would be wearing for the film. Taylor set up a table read with the cast, so we can meet them and get to know each other as well. This was also when I presented the mood board of outfits to Talia and Daniel (David in the film). Talia and I spoke to each other afterward through messages to decide and finalize each needed outfit. We finalized Daniel’s outfit at the table read.

Above is the outfit mood board for Talia’s (Mia in the film) music video shoot and the party outfit and Daniel’s outfit for the party.

Week 7: First Film Shoot Day

Sunday September 15th.

This was extremely exciting but also nerve-racking for me because it was my first film shoot day ever. This was also the first time the whole crew was together and I got to see Talia’s and Daniel’s outfit put together in real life rather than in photos. The first scene we shot was the walking in the neighborhood scene. A few challenges we faced was mostly environmental factors like wind, car noises, planes going by and peopling walking around. We knew it was windy and we were using lapels, so Azra and I decided to make use of a scarf for Iza (Kaylen in the film) and Talia’s hoodie to block the wind. This was also used to hide the lapel in the film so the audience can’t see it.

Second and third scene we shot on this day, Talia put on her party outfit. Daniel was wearing his as well. We used boom arm for this so lapels were not needed.
