For assessment 1, I tried my best to go out and capture recordings to our prompts: Light and Movement.
I shot mainly at night because I was trying to go for “natural” lighting in the dark. Kind of like studio lighting that has been given to me. I got a few good examples of a spotlight, back and front lighting but when it came to edit them together I realised that the quality on the iPhone didn’t actually let me see the textures that I could see when recording. I edited two videos, one for light and one for movement but realised that the movement video was just way too dark and really couldn’t be used. One sketch I was able to use was the image of the tram moving across the tracks, and I realised that I had a traffic light changing as apart of my light video so I decided to cut the two together to create a hybrid. I mostly used this assessment to reacquaint myself with Premier Pro as I hadn’t used the program in a while and wasn’t sure if I was able to remember how to use it correctly. In the end, I just cut the two videos up and tried to create a structure of sorts to give the video a little more meaning, however if I was to do it again I would probably attempt to slow the whole thing down and loop it back to create a cycle of events or a feeling of anticipation. It would of been interesting if I had reversed the colours of the lights (red, yellow, green) and held for about 15 secs on the yellow to create a tension within the film and a relief when it changed to green.
I did quite like the original light sketch that I cut together, but ultimately thought it lacked any form of direction and structure so I only showed the combined sketch to the class, however I have attached all three on this post for you to watch.
