In this semester, I would like to develop my skill in creating immersive soundtracks. I would like to learn the principle behind what makes things immersive, how does it work, how to make it work and also things that will not work or make it less immersive. I also want to learn how the soundtrack can interact with colors, lights, other sensory, etc. in order to create the immersive soundtrack for other media such as installation art, VR, Lighting shows, Fireworks.
The collaborate studio between 2 programs also gives a connection to the film, media students which will be very useful in the future. This is also a good opportunity to look into theory and basic terminology in film production which I don’t know much about it at this moment but it will be very helpful in communication when collaborating with filmmakers in the future and we can use the same terminology.
Recently, I watched “Dog’s purpose”, the movie was about Dog’s lives that want to make their owner feel happy. The interesting point was the storytelling that told in Dog’s Perspective – Dog’s thought, Camera technique etc. Before I watched this film, I didn’t have any expectation from dog’s movie, but the elements in the movie such as storyline, script, score brought everything together and the film becomes very emotional and immersive, at the end, my girlfriend and I started to cry.
Although my favorite film genre is action, sci fi, it’s rare to get a chance to score such genres. Most of the time, I have to score a romantic, comedy movies. Having knowledge in the mechanical of immersion both in sound and visual perspective will be the best tool for me to work on any kind of film in the future.
