Aesthetic Images

As part of Project Cat one of my key goals was to create aesthetically pleasing frames. It seems like a very broad idea, but you need to start somewhere. So since making this broad and bold statement I have been focusing on the frames within the TV and movies I have been watching and creating a collection of frames that make an impact on me. I have been documenting these frames and making little notes on what it is that is appealing to me.

The best part about it is that I can look at a frame, write my notes on what I love /or what bothers me, but it doesn’t stop there. Every time I add in another image, I allow myself to go back and add any other notes to these images. It doesn’t take much time to add in these images and notes because its an ongoing process, but thats what works best about it.

Just some of my frames and notes

– Peggy centered
-Balanced through door on one side/ frames on the other
-Colours on Peggy’s top makes her pop in the center of the image
-Cigarette off center to the left of frame but hallway comes in on the right if frame – Balance!

Inception

-no popping colours
-seat belts add composition
– water bursting through a little off center
-light entering in from both sides of frame defines water and faces.
– Juxtaposition – highly structured surrounds (being the car frame) /  free unstructured movement of human body

-rule of thirds
-taking the shot from a not so common angle
-thinking outside of the box- like the ideas this chef is presenting through her food
light just peeking through behind her arm hazes the left side of the frame- otherwise its a little empty on that side if it was lacking.
– Bursts of orange complement the black and white tones
