EVERYONE IS CONNECTED.
If your best friends or acquaintances to your friends boss who has a whole new friendship group, creates a network where everyone is connected. The different networks of friends allow everyone to connect with different things with the weak ties giving one the ability to communicate with the outside wold. The diagram below is from the new science of networks. Each cluster is a network of friends the thick lines represent strong bonds and the thin lines represent weak ties. It represents how everyone is connected with even the weak ties being important in one getting a job or even spreading rumours.
