WHY BLOG

I have been asking this question for ages now and finally decided to find out why. In Adrian Miles Blogs in media education Week 1 reading he states two main reasons for blogs.

  1. Blogging is not a replica of print literacy but closer to what might be thought of as post print literacy.
  2. If the use of the blog isn’t strongly integrated into the learning and assessable outcomes then the blogger has no reason to put in effort, it becomes a chore.

I understand both these points but I guess I just fall into the category of why change the norm what’s the point?

Adrian makes a great point when he states that blogs are public, you are writing posts weather you intend to or not. Bloggers want people to hear them, negative or positively as long as they are being heard. The more attention the blogger gets, creates confidence that the bloggers ideas and creative way of writing interests people so encourages the blogger to write more posts.

I keep questioning why blog and after reading Adrian’s article I believe that blogging these days is not so much a hobby which is why I wasn’t interested in them, (Why would I blog for fun when I could be doing something to help myself) Instead I believe that blogging is a career. If it’s not the bloggers first job it is there second, people make money off blogs.

I still cant see myself writing a blog in the future but can understand now how other people love the blogging revolution that it has become.
