Mona's Fairground

Week 7 weekend exercise

This weekend, it’s the first time doing my investigation exercises, (camera angles and movement) and got enough time and space, as the director, shooting my own scene with my crew. I worked with Lisa, the camera operator. Two actors was my friends, I am grateful they can come and being my actor. During this shoot, and reviewing the edit, it remind me need to pay attention on lighting, exposure and focus.

  1. Panning-Medium shot, actor stands at the right of the frame, then walking to the window, camera following her movement panning to the window, actor stopped. This shot, audience participate in as a viewer watching her moving.
  2. Hand-held-MCU, high angle, highlights the girl’s inner world, anxiety, excited.
  3. Fixed shot- LS, the boy walk into frame from the right corner, sits in front of the table, camera positioned behind them at left side, the girl still moving, back to chair and looking her phone.
  4. Fixed shot-MS, the girl pick up her phone, typing to her friends, this shot, the framing was not good, the boy’s head was by cut.
  5. Fixed shot- LS, cut back to shot 3. The girl sit down, pick up the landline phone.
  6. Fixed shot- Over the boy’s shoulder, continuing movements of shot 5, pick up the phone, making noise.
  7. Fixed shot- MCU, cuts to boy doing the crossword, the girl drop off her phone back, the boy head up
  8. Fixed shot- Cuts back to shot 6, continuing shot 7, girl take a paper and pass on to the boy
  9. Hand-held- tracking the girl’s hand moving, zoom in
  10. Fixed shot- cut back to shot 6, the boy throw the paper on the floor.

The reason I changed the color to black and white is the color and exposure was to bad, also the focus. Did not think too much on focus. The shot 4 was too bad, because the composition I think is not correct. Next time, I need more focus on that.
