Project brief 1
I was slightly nervous about presenting after seeing what some other people had created. I felt mine were slightly less creative and sharp, however I still felt comfortable enough to show my work and receive useful criticism. The feedback I received for my video was to use landscape layout instead of vertical. This would have displayed more of my surroundings and being more pleasant to watch. It was suggested that for my shower audio I could have changed the pressure of the water to make it more engaging or added other relevant sounds like the sound of a shampoo bottle. I also received some good feedback and both were helpful and relevant to my media. The most difficult part was deciding where to begin and what to do. It was hard thinking about personal things in my life that were interesting or could be made interesting through media. I found some ideas I had also didn’t translate well through certain media platforms or convey what I had in mind.
The hat system was quite useful but also challenging at times. I suppose the best way to get better at it is to do it more often. Perhaps go through the system by myself critiquing my own work before I decide to use it, and then also once I have completed the project. I feel in moments of receiving feedback it’s best to listen and record the feedback and then later on, on your own take the time to evaluate your work while thinking about the previous feedback received. I think blogging about this process may help with your personal evaluation and give you the time and thinking process to come to some sort of solution or alternative that you can then put to practice to refine your product or use next time. I definitely think reflecting on feedback both close and further from the experience is extremely useful. It is important to receive that feedback in the beginning so that you can attempt to improve your product and see where you may have gone wrong. But also further on as you may receive the feedback in a different way now that you are more removed from the project. Sometimes it takes stepping away from your creation to see it clearly and in a more objective view and therefore may take feedback in a more objective way too.
