Reflection of Assignment 4

When it has come to this assignment it has been an interesting working I as a collective. Especially when it comes to thinking of ideas especially with this assignment. It was hard to start for me personally to find a way to write it. The video that we came up with was easy to imagine mainly because we wanted to something different then something that is just being filmed normally or having normal audio. We wanted something that people could experience so this assault on the sense’s idea was a god way to get our revolution idea across. However, as most of the group work hard and well, I feel that not all the work was spread evenly. This is nothing against this person as something demonising but more discussion in the creation of the assignment would have been massively helpful. Other than that, the group worked very well even though one member lived outside Melbourne.

Our idea of basing the manifesto performance on the manifesto film was a enlightening and helpful. As much as we talk about the idea of accessibility which we know that we can’t change to much as that is more of a co-operate and momentary problem. By focusing more on the anti-elitism thing made the topic a lot juicier to write about and perform. Whenever I have seen a manifesto being performed or written I think of the communist manifesto as an example and how it is shown with passion and from the heart. However, with this being the case I really wish we talked more about other mediums like music, as that is really where a lot of these similar ideas and passions I have lie as well. But adding in different mediums makes it the performance a lot more bloated and because we change up the tone so dramatically it would be hard to address all these mediums. Even though this manifesto and the idea of anti-elitism is shown across a lot of different mediums, I feel that it is the strongest in film. The writing of the script was the hardest aspect of the project and the way that we wanted what we said to have passion or meaning but also be understood by people who don’t know what the cannon is.

The project has allowed me to think about not just the works in and medium but what circles around the medium. Thinking of the cannon in any medium is healthy for the people that love a certain type of art, whether it would be painting, music, film, tv, radio, visual arts and more. We have so many things to distract us in this current day and so much content we need to think about the world and the story that these art form reside in to make sure it stays to the core of what makes it fantastic. This may make me talk too much about the thing I love to friends and family, but I am willing to take that criticism to express the thing I love.
