Experiment. Screen. Sensation. // Post 1

While previous vlogs only took me 2 to 3 days, it took me 1 week to finally finish editing my Saigon trip vlog. Since Hanoi imposed lockdown, I took advantage of the time I had on my hands to test out new editing tricks and features of Premiere Pro.

A new editing technique I applied and loved was matching the clips to the music and the vibes of a specific scene. I informed the audience that this was a 5-day trip, but I did not organize the footage in chronological order like before. For example, I could use the morning clips for the afternoon scene or vice versa. My ultimate goal was to make the vlog as enjoyable and entertaining as possible, and I found this goal is achieved easier and faster when I became more flexible with how I arrange the clips.

When I started the studio, I was inspired to step out of my comfort zone and think about experimenting with short films. I assume producing a short film will require me to have a well-thought-out video script and storyboard before shooting. Whereas I put most of my effort into the editing phase when making vlogs. As someone who loves planning, I reckon making a film with a clear vision would be a very satisfying experience. Even if I ended up making another form of visual arts for the assignment, I am extremely excited to challenge my creativity and grow new skills in this studio.
