How did you author (the photo or video) you recorded for upload to Instagram?

This video was recorded with the use of my iPhone 6 rear facing camera and Instagram’s built in camera function. I again used Instagram’s Boomerang feature, which captures several seconds of movement and replays the recording on a loop.

I was coming home from work and I saw a neighbour use the elevator to go back to their apartment. I decided it would be a nice shot to of the elevators opening and closing. I had to wait for some time, after pressing the elevator button, for the elevator to reach ground floor again. The first time I mistimed the elevator doors opening and closing. In my second attempt, I could be seen in the mirror, which I thought was distracting. For the third and final shot, I stood a little to the right to avoid being caught the reflection and pressed the button again for the doors to open and close.

The video was edited with Instagram’s editing tools. I extended the frame beyond the default square frame and added the ‘Ludwig’ filter to the video.

How did you publish (the photo or video) you recorded for upload to Instagram?

As the Boomerang feature is only available in the stories setting, I had to download the video to my iPhone’s camera roll, to be able to upload onto my Instagram page.

The video was published with the caption, ‘Going ’

How did you distribute (the photo or video) you published on Instagram to other social media services?

To distribute this photograph within Instagram, I used the hashtags #4, #apartmentliving #media, #rmit, and #videography.

The video was also distributed to Tumblr and Twitter. As the accounts were linked to the Instagram account, from the previous posts, I simply had to swipe the button next to the Twitter tag and press the share button on the Instagram app.
