How did you author (the photo or video) you recorded for upload to Instagram?
The linked video was recorded with the use of my iPhone 6 rear facing camera and Instagram’s built in camera function. The specific tool I used to record, from Instagram, is called the Boomerang feature, which captures several seconds of movement and replays the recording on a loop.
I wanted to create a video that looked like the fridge door was opening and shutting, without my hand in the frames. I did this by opening the fridge door first and then recorded with the Boomerang feature when I pushed the door to close. I had to take numerous shots to achieve the right timing.
The video was edited with Instagram’s editing tools. I extended the frame beyond the default square frame and added the ‘Juno’ filter to the video.
How did you publish (the photo or video) you recorded for upload to Instagram?
The Boomerang feature is only available through the Instagram story function, as a result, I had to save the video to my iPhone 6 camera roll, and then proceed to upload it as a post.
The video was published with the caption, “What’s behind that door?’
How did you distribute (the photo or video) you published on Instagram to other social media services?
To distribute this photograph within Instagram, I used the hashtags #food, #2, #media, #rmit, and #videography.
The video was also distributed via the social media platforms: Twitter and Tumblr. As both accounts were already linked to the Instagram account, from the previous post, I simply had to swipe the button next to the Twitter tag and press the share button on the Instagram app.
