Reflection:

As a group, we met during and after classes, planning out our shoot. From the talents/actors to discussing about the script, amend some parts of it and story boarding. We scheduled the shoot on a Saturday, 27th April, which is the week of the University break. I volunteered as camera and sound operator for only some parts of the shoot. I felt that I didn’t do a good job as the camera operator as some of the ‘park scene’ shots were a little shaky. As for sound, I’ve only used the F4 once thus I was also trying to familiarise myself with it and was praying that the sound I recorded is good enough, which wasn’t as bad as I expected.

While Mary edited the proof of concept, as she was the best in visualising how she wants the film to look like, I decided to start on the pitch presentation so that we would split up the work amongst the members. Before the break, Alan gave us a template on how to pitch ideas to professionals. I used the template as a guide for our presentation.

After pitching our ideas in class, the panel gave us good feedback, stating that they could visualise it being well-made into a TV series. They would like to see more of our main character’s job as an intimacy worker, which we were not able to put in the proof of concept. The panel also gave us some suggestion of film to look at due to the similarity in story and visuals with our short film. However, as a group, we wanted a little more feedback on how we could improve with our work.

Overall, I think we did a good job in pitching and also proof of concept, however we still need a lot of work to do with the rest of our scenes and putting them together. Hopefully, I would be able to contribute more in our project.
