Monday’s class was another critiquing class. I wrote a review for Jailhouse Rock (yes I’m combining my subjects together) since it was the only media artifact I’d consumed all week!! Georgia told me to put my voice into the piece more and watch my sentence structure, something I’ve been told a bit lately. I think I’m getting so into the ranty tone of critical pieces that I don’t stop to pause. I read Georgia’s piece on her critical profile and she’s chosen Jonathan Gold. Her work was great I just suggested some more quotes from Gold himself to get his tone of voice across.
On Wednesday afternoon we had a Q and A with Simran Hans and Philippa Hawkers both two amazing critics. The talk was an invaluable experience (thank you Alexia for lining it up!) and it definitely gave me motivation to keep finding my voice and writing, writing, writing. There are no short cuts! Only practice will work.
