Rehearsals This Afternoon

Today I’m getting my actors together for the first time and rehearsing with them one of the scenes from the script. My plan for today is to not only work with the actors on developing the characters and nailing the performance, but also experimenting on how to shoot the thing. I’m going to film the scene in multiple styles so I can later reflect and see what worked and what didn’t.

I’ll be using a DIY steadycam to film and I’ll shoot with my CANON 700D. I prefer DSLRs as opposed to the cameras we have in class so I’m going to stick with what works for me. Today I won’t have a cameraman with me because I need to experiment with camera shots myself. I have to be hands on in that way. To make sure I am able to work with the actors as well, I may set up a tripod and film while I focus solely off the camera and on the actors not through the viewfinder.
