Will the book die?

Will the book die?

No.

Will print media die? No, at least not yet.

Books, narrative books, will be around for a long, long time. The physicality will stay the same, maybe a different, more fficient material, but reading a novel on a device it not the experience people want. Non fiction will become extinct in print form. Look at the amount of text books I’ve had this year for my first year at uni, 1. One book. Mind you its a great book, but everything else we are reading are extracts from various texts. We don’t follow the textbook anymore because we have access to every quote from every book online. Licence the chapter from the book and there, saved putting that book on the booklist.

It was an interesting and extremely common question asked at the lecture this week. The discussions on the topic of the death of print media have been going on for so long I can’t really be bothered continuing this sentence…

I think the lectures are getting better, but my initial point remains, it should have been like this week one. I’m taking more out of these lectures than the prior weeks, which is a good sign, but what does that mean for the prior weeks. How much did I get from them? I can’t remember 😀
