Media Studio – Week 6

This week on Thursday we had a session working with camera equipment and sound equipment. I’d used the the sound recording equipment before but not that particular camera although it was pretty similar to ones I had. It was good to get a refresher.

Questions Posted on mediafactory blog regarding participation:

What do you want to get out if it?
A documentary that will be touching for people to watch as well as help me explore a part of my local community

What do you want your participants to get out of it?
To feel appreciated and valued as well as have a chance to voice their experiences

How can you proceed ethically?
Start contacting those involved with the toy library about the project as well as aspects of representation

In what ways can your subjects participate? How much autonomy and decision making do they have? How much authorial control do they have?
Through planning communication subjects get to influence the tone and intent of the doco. What gets included and aspects to focus on. I’ll also be interviewing so they directly control content in that regard
