The research conducted has helped me form a better understanding on our chosen concept. The research has also helped my group and I form a storyline that showcases Dissociative Identity Disorder in a more positive way. Our storyline is about a young girl named ‘Dei’ who finds ways to cope with the disorder. She has three different alters, Christian a middle aged man, Lucy a young child and Matilda an elderly lady. As the cause of the illness can be caused by ‘childhood traumas’ we have decided to focus on range of triggers the interrelate to the characters trauma as a child. Some of these triggers include any strong grip’s on the arm which can trigger the young child alter Lucy as Dei had a hard childhood growing up. With the software Eko we will show the clip of the character and the trigger then let the audience decided if they want to see dei cope with trigger or transform to her other self.
As Eko doesn’t allow audience member’s to comment we have decided to also create an Instagram account to help create a community were people can discuss the issues freely. The Instagram account will be included at the end of the project so viewers can easily access it. The weekly reading discusses the importance of communication and giving people a voice, therefore we want individuals to feel as though there voice matters. The 4 Main characteristics that we plan to incoperate in our project is, Multi-linear/Multi-persepctive, cross platforming, automation and modularity. These four media fragments will help establish our single project.
We were able to get some final feedback which was to explain the media alters at the end and to include facts about the disorder throughout the project as this will help educate audiences even more about the disorder. The other groups also helped us come up with a titled name. click here to find out.
Creating a platform that gives people the freedom of choice as well as educating viewers about this disorder through online interactivity is what I want to get of this project. The question that remains for me is if audiences can really be educated through online interactivity.
