A Friday In Melbourne is a project that showcases the fragments of multiple perspectives through time. It differentiates from city and suburb exploring how everybody’s day’s a different. We have created 36 10 second clips that in total make up 6 minutes and in each video individuals are successfully able to see the difference between city and suburbia. When opening our project the sound of a clock ticking is made apparent as we want the viewers to be able to understand the concept of time and time passing. In my previous blog I mention our groups desire to create an interface on Korsakow categorising the city and suburb, which then opens up to our timeline of clips. We were able to get feedback from Hannah and the other group’s which helped answer our questions. They suggested to not over complicate things and that simple is good. From this we decided to compile both our suburb and city videos all together. This means that consumers will randomly get chosen a suburb or a city clip to watch. We then realised that this will showcase the aspect’s of variability and modularity even more as well as making it more non linear.
To get the idea of a time line a more simplistic version mentioned by Hannah was to create thumbnails that showcased the time of day. Each time varies from 8am to 12am giving viewers multiple options. When viewing our clips viewers may be able to pick up on the de colouration of certain videos. We intentionally decided to do this as we wanted to show the difference between the city and suburban life. The city clips are more fast pace and bright in colour whereas the clips filmed in the suburb are more dull and quiet. This shows that there is more to do and explore in the city then living in the suburbs.
