The sketch idea started from a silly comment Ash had made in class this week. We were talking about the new The Minecraft movie and how Jack Black during an interview, joked that he wanted to be the next Batman. Random, but it made us laugh. The idea then spiralled from Jack Black to other celebs, until we’d landed on Harrison Ford, the sketch basically became a fake voice dub of an agent hyping up this movie deal to their famous client, like it was the opportunity of a lifetime, the client wasn’t sold, then was offered a large amount of money and the sketch ends.

What I really liked about this process was how something that started as a joke turned into a solid little commentary on media, attention spans, and celebrity culture and a small homage to Harrison Ford

I’ve really been loving the readings, especially this weeks by Eryk Salvaggio, Gaussian Pop: 14 Theses. Theres something about a list of things I don’t understand, I find it easier to unpack that way.

Bonus points as I LOVE Substack.

Before this reading I’d never heard the term “Gaussian Pop”. I found the way Salvaggio explained the genre as more maths/pattern based was interesting. I keep being brought back to the idea that the internet is a big blender and AI generated… anything is the pulp.

In the sense that Gaussian Pop is a mix of all popular music thats ever been shared on the internet (the fruit) is the source material for all AI generated songs (the left over pulp).

I agree that after a while of listening while creating last weeks music video i found that all the sounds were very similar to a point I was getting frustrated because Suno wouldn’t change the sound like I wanted.

Thank you for reading 🙂
