Project Brief 4 – updated

After listening to Robbie’s feedback about my video, I decided to redo my first and second sequence to create more of an abstract aesthetic, in which questions the perception of gravity. I also was not happy with my audio, and Robbie told me to work with the spring sound i originally had. I attempted to mix it in with the old audio, and make a new one but I wasn’t having much success, with the assistance of Robbie and Jordan however, we decided on placing the same piece of audio three times, and altering the sound by enabling the flex range in garageband. The sound that was produced from this matched up well with the theme I was going for, it was abstract and unnatural, which supports my theme of questioning gravity/movement. Here are the two new videos and audio sounds:

Today marked the beginning of our presentations for Project Brief 3. A lot of the class had some really great videos. This week we presented our group projects for Project Brief 3 to the class, with Joseph as a guest to help with some feedback. Overall, our group received great feedback, one thing to work on was our audio piece. We attempted to create a sense of ‘Arie’ within the presentation to imply that he has his own world for his art. However, they way in which we aimed to portray that did not come across as successfully, Robbie suggested we could have made that more obvious, and made it more abstract to suit his type of artwork. Joseph also suggested we could have included more about his work in Testing Grounds, unfortunately we did not have much footage of it given from Arie, nonetheless Joseph mentioned he had lots, so we could have extended our resources further to include everything that we wanted. Overall, I’m very happy with our group and how well we worked together as a team to produce our Project Brief 3.

Today was our second lot of presentations for Project Brief 3 and today mine was displayed. I gave an introduction of how my video aimed to present the idea of a carpark being a “nonplace”, and I received great feedback. My classmates and Robbie were very supportive, giving my advice on things to fix as well as stating things that they liked about my work.

Second half of our class was dedicated to the arrangement of our BBQ backpack night at the Testing Grounds, everyone was getting amongst their groups, and we arranged food, times, equipment and allocated jobs to certain to students. This was to ensure the night ran smoothly and was to be enjoyable for all. We also were given our artist that we were to interview for our Project Brief 3, I am in a group with Elle and Nicolette and our artist is named Ari, I’m excited to start working on it.

Media 1, Week 7 Tutorial Reflection

During today’s workshop, we got to view everyone’s Project Brief 3, and it was good to see everyone else’s and how they interpreted the assignment, and who they chose to interview and why. There were a lot of very different films. After this we got selected into groups for our final Project Brief 4, one of our group member was absent and therefore Helena and I shared our videos and we provided feedback to each other.

Her feedback for me was that: she found my found footage relevant however she thought I could’ve used more. She said she enjoyed it and found it inspiring to complete yoga and overall thought it was a good film.

After this we begun working on our Project Brief 4, our group was given the topic “mediums” which we are very excited about and we have decided to display it as on a website and therefore we can demonstrate all forms of mediums on the one thing.

Media 1, Week 3 Tutorial Reflection

With the use of my media files, in order for my peers to understand how these represent myself, I had to explain to them how it represented me and why it did because there was only so much you could read into my photographs, videos and audios. All my work depicts who I am and what my values are but my peers extended their media files out to others who represent themselves. I think that in my next project I could involve people that are considered important to me. My peers deferred from the traditional self-portrait and involved family members and closer friends and partners which I found very expressive of them. I think the peer-feedback was useful in that you could have a view of what others have created, and create more ideas from it. I wasn’t too nervous about presenting but I felt like I could have done a better job with my media project as I wasn’t a fan of presenting raw material however that is why I am so excited for my next project as this is where I can involve editing skills into my work.
