Inspiration

I am studying one of my favourite films this semester: Mulholland Drive. I watched it again the other night and felt so inspired by Lynch’s cinematography that I wanted to share one particular scene (arguably the most important scene of the film – although I won’t give anything away).

I love the way the camera moves from 2:30 to 2:45. I want to create a short film for this studio filmed in a similar way, almost as if the viewer is on a simulator ride. I also want to somehow convey a similar mood to Lynch: sinister and dark. I’ve taken the name of this studio quite literally and used it as inspiration – I’d really like to make a short horror/ghost film.

All of this is nothing more than an idea at the moment, although I’m going to start fleshing it out more over the mid-semester break and regularly posting updates on here. I might even try to film a low quality prototype just to have a better idea for a rough storyboard.
