Experiment 4 – gathering list

Firstly, from the feedback and a review of my video I found out that the rhythm of my work can be stronger but this is hard to create when there is no music.

Next, for the experiment 4, I watched two examples of “Gathering list” and I find that they are all express an sense emotion rather than action or a thing, and I inspired by them. Also we need to “gathers disparate things together” (Bogost Cited Hannah 2021). Therefore, it must not be a story. To start my idea, I want to shoot “Leisure” or the relaxed feeling. Because the online class needs to be self-discipline and there is no environment, I feel alone and tired to concentrate, it makes me thinking the opposite.

Furthermore, I chose the time after working time about 5 o‘clock to walk around. There’s a lot of people standing along on the street and don‘t know what to do, they looks boring but the time is wasted by themselves. It‘s a choice they decided to relax, they walk slowly and stand loosely. However, after editing, I found all my video are people. From the reading and the feedback from classmates I realized that I should insert more other elements. I shoot again and insert them to the original work. Before, there were only characters as the protagonist, later, I added the lying dog and idle Cafe shop with no one walking around.

Moreover, to make a sharp contrast between noisy street sounds and leisure pictures so I didn‘t change the background music that I record on the street.

Overall, I thought this “gathering work” can be said to be a collection of expressing specific emotions. After I showed these people who were alone, relaxed and free, I also felt the sense of loneliness from these images. So, I think experiment may not be just a simple album of particular emotion, but could be a complex emotions. therefore only one word: leisure.
