Working sound

So recently I have had the pleasure of working with a community channel. It was defiantly very different from the experiences I’ve had on private shoots, not in a bad way though. As a media student It’s quite hard to get a proper role on set, for the most part we are simply used as runners. However, this group has allowed me to run sound on set. So far it has been an amazing experience, both in terms of experienced gained but also in terms on set.

getting hands on experience on set really gives you a glimpse of what it would be like to do this as a job, and it also allows you the opportunity to expand your skill set. I personally don’t have a great interest in sound recording but being the one controlling the way it is produced really helped me understand what is involved and the importance of each role on set, and even just being in the vicinity of the director of photography allowed me an insight into how he works the shot.

I definitely recommend this to anyone interested in getting into film.
