A Do Be.

I’m really into rain and streetlights at the moment ^^^

This week, I had a look at Lauren’s blog post (aptly named Gone in a Flash) on the reading.

There’s a good discussion about the problem that work created using newer programs could be potentially inaccessible in the future. Adobe may become obsolete. This means that anything uploaded online using Adobe Flash Player may become completely inaccessible. These works may not exist. It’s interesting to compare this with older technology – films from the early 20th century are more likely to survive in their form than those films uploaded using Adobe Flash Player.

I don’t completely understand what’s going on with this Adobe thing. To me, it seems unlikely that we’ll lose all of our content uploaded using Adobe. There’s always a way. Transfer of material to another system somehow? I don’t know. It just seems a bit dramatic to assume we’re going to lose all of that content. I guess I don’t know enough about it to make a good judgement of the situation.
