Rehearsals were to be held on Friday afternoon, when we would usually have class but unfortunately I was quite sick and so I decided to stay home and get better before shooting would begin on the following Monday. From what was relayed to me, the rehearsal went well. The rest of the group was able to estimate roughly how long scenes would run for, and also got headshots of each actor for their character ID badge.

From home I did some graphic designing. I created a logo for ‘Ghastly Solutions’, which would double as both the fictional company logo, and the title card for the show itself. I typed out the phrase a few times and tried with different fonts to see what worked and what didn’t. In the end I decided to have the word ‘Ghastly’ in a spooky font, as to draw attention to that element of the logo, the word ‘Solutions’ is in a more conventional font, to play to the nature of the office space. I also added a little ‘pty ltd’ to the end of the phrase, to add an extra element of authenticity. The logo is on a yellow circle, simply because I found it helped the fonts stand out more, whilst not going too over the top.

After I created the logo, I received the ID badge headshots from Aine, and started to make each characters ID badge. These comprised of: the company logo, character first and last name, position in the company, headshot, hair and eye colour, a cheeky little comment about their personality, and a barcode. I wanted to add an extra fun little detail/ Easter egg to the badges, so the numbers of the barcodes do actually hold some meaning. Arabella’s barcode includes 666, because she is possessed by a demon, Duncan’s is the dates of the earliest written record of a werewolf, and then the year American werewolf in London was released. Carl’s is the start and end date of the TV series “The Clone Wars” (get it? because he’s a clone). Liz’s is the date of the first day of the reign of Queen Elizabeth and finally Christian Dalv’s is the latitude and longitude of Transylvania, famous for its vampire lore. Although these little details aren’t obvious to the audience, I feel like it’s these details that will give the show a real charm.
