Mid semester break gave us a nice opportunity to shoot our pilot episode. But these shoots were a bit messy to say the least; we had allocated crew roles but people tended to drip away from them and help out in other roles. (example: I was supposed to be on sound, but I ended up playing Arabella, doing and doing camera somehow). We were very disorganised in general, there was a shot list but it wasn’t drawn up so we spent way too much time wondering what kind of shot to use, the location was terrible for what we wanted. There was alot of white noise and inconsistent lighting, also it was just a very difficult space for the crew to navigate with equipment. The shoot took alot longer than it should have and alot of small things were over looked: focus, white balance, eyeline etc. The second shoot didn’t take as long but it still was very scattered. People didn’t stick to their roles, shots were not planned out, the lighting in this room we used was hindered by over head equipment, some shots turned out to be over exposed and in general the room ‘felt’ a bit wrong, it definately couldn’t pass as an office space. We were being a bit lazy and just finding the closest room we could. Though the shoot was messy, we have alot to reflect on for the presentations coming up, which means we can only get better from here I guess
